Fat has gotten a lot of bad rep in the past for being unhealthy, but WE NEED FAT as it provides us with energy and important nutrients like fat soluble vitamins (vitamins A, D, E, & K). Certain fats, like monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats are actually HEART HEALTHY and reduce your risk of developing heart disease by lowering LDL "bad" cholesterol. Examples of heart healthy foods include olive oil, canola oil, avocados, nuts and seeds, and fatty fish like salmon.
